Mass Confusion  ( drop “D”)  1999

Well he’s running down the road with his paycheck in his hand
Goin’ to the bank just as fast as he can
Gonna beat the billman do the door
Workin’ 40 hours weeks, don’t wanna work no more

Can’t keep up He’s always running behind
Not knowing if he’ll ever get to work on time
Always short before the check is due
And the soles on his feet are worn straight through

And he always looks like he’s a mess
Could it be his hair or the way he’s dressed
Mass confusion he’s right on track
One step forward and two steps back
Chorus

Mass confusion is his life
He never ever seems to get it right
Wonder how he ever gets things done
With his back against the wall under the gun

So it goes that life goes on
He’s runnin’ like a dog under the sun
Never knowing which way is up
Like a snowball in hell he’s all used up

You Can  BF#C#F#BD#  Capo II

You can cross your fingers
And wish for luck
You can pick all the four leaf clover
That you want

(refrain)

You can wish upon the stars above
Read an Aesops fable
You can read your fortune
In the tea leaves that lie on the table

And when you think your luck’s all gone
Read the cards in your hand
Then you’ll see it’s not so bad
Then you’ll see you can

You can travel
All around the world
You can have your ports of call
You can have it all

Refrain

And when you think your luck’s all gone
Read the cards in your hand
The you’ll see it’s not so bad
You will see you can

Repeat first verse

Night Sounds  DADGBE  Capo II

I can hear the call of a freight train
On a warm summer night
Splitting the quiet of a peaceful city night
And I can close my eyes and pretend I’m right by
That whistle’s howling and it makes me feel so right

And some nights you can hear the freighters
As they come in to dock
Their whistles blow the stories
Of their travels through the locks
And then the siren sounds so loud
On the streets below
Singing out the night sounds, that I have come to know

(refrain)
The quiet of the night sounds so loudly
You want to freeze it in it’s place
You can hear the sounds of the minutes tick away

I can hear the sounds of the night as the city sleeps
And I can her your heart in time with the night as it beats
I can hear every sigh as they all come and go
Singing out the night sounds that I have come to know

Refrain

Mother Nature’s Call  CGCGCE

Down on South Bay, looking towards the sky
The wind is gathering, clouds billow high
Something’s happening there, but you can’t see
Something’s happening there for you and me
And I wonder if we can see at all

And then the waves, they blow in from the west
And they grow and begin to crest
And on their backs they carry the call
Of the storm that’s been forming so tall
She’s coming across for us all
It’s Mother Nature’s Call

(refrain)
She’s bringing life to the likes of you and me
Showing her strength and superiority
Nourishing life among the forest trees
Don’t try to stop her when she sings upon the breeze

Then the wind is roaring overhead
Lighting cracks across and shakes the dead
Thunder rolls across it cracks and calls
A tapestry of light and sound for all
It’s a miracle she brings to us all
It’s Mother Nature’s Call

Refrain

Then she leaves just as fast as she came
Leaving behind her lifeblood in the rain
You can smell it in the air, you can feel it in your bones
Nourishing all the life she just never leaves alone
It’s a miracle she brings to us all
It’s Mother Nature’s Call

Refrain

Friday Nights  DADF#AD  Copyright l998  Lee Kelm

I remember Friday nights
And football games under the lights
Saturday night dances on an autumn night
I remember Friday nights

Homecoming weekend
We gathered ‘round
Bonfires fed
With the wood we stole from around the town

(refrain)

The times we shared,
The friends we made
I didn’t think about it much then
Now I think about it every day

I remember
Those drive-in days
Four in the trunk
The other two would pay
Ticket lady laughed
Couldn’t fool her one damn bit
She passed us through the gate
Laughing at us kids

And I remember Friday nights
Football games under the lights
Saturday night dances
On an autumn night
I remember Friday nights

The times we shared
The friends we made
I didn’t think about it much then
Now I think about it everyday

Blessed  Partial Capo II

Well I haven’t traveled this world around
Haven’t been that far, from my home town
Haven’t sailed the seven seas
Or climbed the mountains’ majesty

Well I’ve never met a king or queen
Never got the part in a movie scene
Never got the chance to make the guess
At the million dollar question that was asked

(refrain)
So don’t have pity on the man you see
Cause’ he’s not sorry for what came to be
Just the opposite of what you’d guess
He’s thankful,  he knows he’s blessed

Now he lives his life the way he wants
Works real hard at his job
And through the years he’s learned what matters most
Love of family and keeping hope

Refrain

Now I haven’t traveled this world around
Haven’t been that far from my old home town

Charlie’s Lament  EADGBE  Copyright l998  Lee Kelm

He was a man of wealth they said
Living on the edge
Sold it all the other day
After his wife moved away
Bought himself a little room
Just above the town’s saloon
There he’ll live his life in gloom
And drink it all away

He mans his stool at 10a.m.
Orders up his glass of gin
Drinks it down without a stop
Tells the bartender, “fill it up.”
Looses track by 4 p.m.
When the crowd finally comes in
Only voices he can hear
Are the ones inside his head

(refrain)
It’s a drunkard’s world he shouts
When you live in a bottle and you can’t get out
People wonder how I got this way
But only voices in my head will say
For sure

People wonder how he keeps the pace
Years marked by lines upon his face
He’s the butt of all their jokes
But still buying drinks for all the folks
They say he’s a bum, behind his back
They shake his hand, they slap his back
“Say Charlie how you doin’ today?”
“Buy me a drink, maybe I’ll stay with you

(refrain)

Many years have gone by fast
Since I’ve been back to that town
S’pose Charlie’s’ not around no more
S’pose he crawled into his bottle and drowned
They say his ghost pro’bly walks the bar
Where they poured him his last drink
And if you listen real hard they say
You might even hear Charlie say to you…

(refrain) then repeat first half of verse one

Never Alone  Lyrics by Kristin Kelm, Music by Lee Kelm

Let the angels come down from heaven
Let them lift your heart so high
When you’re sad and lonely
Make you fell like you can fly

It’s not fair
But you’ve got to take your chances
Never in defeat let yourself fall
Letting go is not an option

REFRAIN
Never let life get I your way
Tomorrow will be better than today
You’ve got to overcome you fears
Left your head and wipe your tears
Open your heart and see
That’s the way life’s gonna be

There’s no easy way out
All you can do is hold and be strong
Even thought the day may be long
But you can’t forget
You’re never alone

Old ‘88  CGCGCE  Copyright Pending  Lee Kelm

I’m driving down the road in my Oldsmobile car
It’s taken me so near, and so far
Treated it so nice, treated it so kind
Now every time I slam the door, I leave a little bit behind

Shiny new in 84’ cruise control and more
‘Lectric windows, power seats, a V-8 that roars
And every time I hit the gas, it just cries out for more
And every time I fill it up, I’m classified as poor

(refrain)

Its funny how time can change, just what people see
They judge a book by its cover when they look at me
Not knowing if they should run or hide, or should they fear or trust
The man who drives a car, so full of rust

How can it be that something that was so shiny new
That used to get such looks from the people I knew
Now those looks I see are ones of disgust
All because my once new car, is full of rust

(refrain)

Now the fun part of all this is pulling into park
At some big ass shopping mall, I begin to start
To look for the shiny new car, where a guy just sits so proud
I pull right up next to him, He decides to pull out

(refrain)

I’m driving down the road in my Oldsmobile car
It’s taken me so near and so far
Treated it so nice, treated it so kind
Now every tine I slam the door I leave a little bit behind

It’s Alright   Partial Capo II

I see you and you see me
Sometimes we see things so differently
I hear you and you hear me
Sometimes we don’t hear the things that were meant to be
But that’s alright, that’s alright, that’s alright

(refrain)
They say opposites attract each other
And as for us that could be true
Two paths taken by each other
Mine always leads back to you

And I call you and you call me
Sometimes our lines get crossed it’s plain to see
But I love you and you love me
It’s the simple things that mean so much it’s plain to see
And that’s alright, that’s alright, that’s alright

Refrain

Repeat first verse

On The Shore  Partial Capo II

I want to feel the south wind on my face
Standing on the shore in all its grace
To see the water as blue as all of the sky
To hear the sound of the north going by
And the sight of an eagle way up high
I long for all of the things that God gave to me

I want to hold your hand and walk on the shore
And breathe the sweet air like we were there once more
To see the sun setting down on the day
And one more time those waves will rush in
As we walk in the water and become one with the wind
I long for all of these things that God gave to me

(refrain)
I will hold all these memories right in my heart
All the ones we met who became our friends right from the start
To all of those who cared, to all of those who shared
May we meet again one day, on the shore

Now don’t be sad cause’ we must part
Keep alive all the good times in your heart
Remember the times that we shared, when we were all there
It’s the times together that mean so much
Remember the bonds of friendship that touched
All of us that stood  here on the shore

Refrain

Repeat first verse
